Our Mission and Vision

TWLA OUR MISSION

The Turkish Women’s League of America (TWLA) is a non-profit non-governmental organization established to sustain, promote, and pass down the Turkish language and culture to future generations in the United States, managed by volunteer Turkish women dedicated to Atatürk’s principles and revolutions.

Founded in New York in 1958, the TWLA is one of the most established Turkish-American associations in America and houses the New York Atatürk School, which has been proudly operating since 1971.

Our League has adopted the mission of strengthening cultural ties within the Turkish-American community, fostering friendship and solidarity among women, and creating projects that support gender equality.

As an organization accredited to the United Nations Department of Global Communications (UNDGC), it continues to raise awareness and contribute in the fields of quality education, climate action, and social equality in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Inspired by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s words, “O heroic Turkish woman! You are worthy not of crawling on the ground, but of rising to the skies on shoulders!”, the TWLA continues to work with dedication to ensure Turkish women reach the respected position they deserve in society.

TWLA VISION

While preserving our cultural heritage in the light of the universal values advocated by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, the TWLA has adopted the vision of contributing to peace, understanding, and equality in the world through the principles of sustainable development, gender equality, and global cooperation.
